What is the zero line and the ground line?
Neutral line: General industrial power uses three-phase sinusoidal alternating current, and their phase angles are 120 degrees out of each other. Power transmission is usually carried out in a three-phase four-wire manner. We connect the tail ends of the three-phase windings of the transformer together, called the neutral point, and the line drawn from the neutral point is the neutral line (zero line).
Ground wire: We usually ground the neutral point of the power supply, then pull out a protective wire from the neutral line and repeat the grounding. It is called the ground wire. The function of the ground wire is to reliably connect the metal casing of the equipment or the electrical appliance to the earth. When the electrical equipment fails and the metal casing is accidentally charged, the human body is protected from electric shock.
How to distinguish between neutral and ground
Generally, there are three methods for distinguishing between neutral and ground.
1, color distinction
This method is for reference only, red is not necessarily a fire line, because many electricians do not use the standard according to the line.
FireWire (L): must use red, yellow, green
Zero line (N): black, blue
Ground wire (PE): yellow and green double color lines are required
If it is a 3-hole socket, it is usually left zero right fire, middle ground
2, leakage circuit breaker
Install an earth leakage circuit breaker on the bus, and connect a light bulb to the live and neutral lines, or the live and ground lines. If the leakage circuit breaker action description is ground, otherwise it is the neutral line.
3, if at home
(1) Three electric wires are measured by an electronic electroscope. The high voltage is the hot line, the low voltage is the zero line, and the almost no voltage is the ground line.
(2) Take a 220V bulb and use the electric pen to determine the live line. Then connect the two wires and the fire wire to the lamp head. The neutral and ground wires can be judged from the brightness. Light is zero, and slightly dark is ground.
(3) The meter puts the multimeter in the AC file 250v, hand-pinch a pen, and the other pen touches the power line respectively. The high voltage is the hot line, the low is the zero line, and the voltage is 0 is the ground line.
Consequences of wrong
1. The ground wire cannot be connected to the zero line. If it is connected or mixed, although the electrical appliance can work normally, it is dangerous. When the neutral line fails, all the equipment enclosures are charged (normal electrical appliances are no exception). If an earth leakage circuit breaker is installed, the hybrid switch will trip if the leakage switch is installed.
2, the ground wire of the household can be temporarily used for the zero line (so that the meter does not turn, it is stealing electricity), but if you want to use it for a long time, there are many unfavorable factors, such as:
Due to the change of the grounding point environment (thunderstorm, humidity, etc.), the voltage is unstable; the substation factor causes the voltage of the live line to reach 380V, which can cause the electrical equipment to be easily affected and seriously damaged.
