Perhaps one of the most noteworthy features of the Meizu MX 6

As smart phones enter the “optimal solution” stage, the discourse system of configuration, performance, industrial design, and cost performance has been numb. Therefore, taking into account the input-output ratio, "not the same" at this time is not necessarily cost-effective, but it must be eye-catching.

On July 19, at the Meizu new conference, the most intensive moment of applause and cheers was the midfield. The MX 6 supported WeChat fingerprinting, and Mei Yong CEO Bai Yongxiang said, “The posture is very beautiful.”

WeChat fingerprint payment, a feature that does not require interpretation, has long been a privilege only for the iPhone and Huawei mate 7. In the context of "one thousand machines, one side," this situation is somewhat embarrassing.

As the person in charge of the Meizu mobile payment program, Zou Jun followed up on Meizu and WeChat's cooperation in fingerprint payment. According to him, the contacts between the two sides actually started in 2014 and later they were thought to be launched on Pro 6. Delays have so far been more business constraints.

On October 20, 2014, Apple launched Apple Pay at the autumn new product launch. Soon, Meizu's first mobile phone equipped with fingerprint recognition - MX 4 Pro released, and launched mPay. Meizu understand that if you want to achieve a similar experience, Alipay and WeChat this "two mountains" can not bypass.

Both have the will, but it is easier to promote this with Alipay.

"At that time, Alipay already had a ready-made fingerprint payment plan, and WeChat is still at an exploratory stage."

Of course, even Meizu and Alipay "You love me" is not enough:

"On the entire (mobile fingerprint payment) chain, handset manufacturers, platform vendors, TEE vendors, component suppliers, and payment platforms are not very familiar with this piece of technology."

Constrained by energy, the cooperation between Meizu and WeChat was basically shelved, and each subsequent encounter was lightly tasted.

“The research and development cycle with Alipay has been more than half a year. The most important difficulty is still at the technical level. How to store fingerprints in TEE and how to call some secure interfaces in TEE are all problems.”

In fact, prior to this, Alipay has realized fingerprint payment with Huawei.

However, Huawei's mobile phone chips and TEE are all independent research and development. The coupling between the solution and its hardware is very high, which means that for other manufacturers, this solution has almost no reference value.

In addition, Meizu's TEE supplier is the British trustonic, which has not done similar solutions in China.

"TEE is a security system that is independent of Android. In this system, the outside world cannot tamper with some of the interfaces. The permissions that can be obtained are very low."

It is difficult, but once it is established, there is no problem that cannot be solved. On June 23, 2015, after the MX4 Pro Universal Edition experience firmware update, Alipay fingerprint payment function was formally launched.

Until 4 months later, WeChat’s universal solution went one step further:

"(Wechat) Now this program is based on Android M. Only in October last year did it launch a standard fingerprint payment interface."

Also due to the high degree of hardware coupling, WeChat and Huawei mate 7 launched fingerprint payment in May last year. After the general plan came out, the commercial game was put on the table. Even Huawei, who had once cooperated, encountered problems.

In March of this year, the WeChat executives came to the Meizu Zhuhai headquarters and the details of the conversation were unknown. However, Yang Yan announced internally: In mid-March, Meizu restarted the WeChat fingerprinting program. Pro 6 is definitely not catch up, and the MX 6 is the first choice.

“In cooperation with Alipay for six months, we have accumulated a lot of experience in TEE, fingerprinting, and security verification. Therefore, it is relatively easy to connect WeChat.”

However, the two are still different:

"WeChat's new plan emphasizes the security level. It is necessary to implant a different key in each mobile phone. This requires us to make corresponding adjustments to the production line."

From the results, Meizu has become the third Android phone manufacturer to support WeChat fingerprint payment.

After the conference was over, Li Mei, vice president of Meizu, told Lei Fengwang (searching for the "Lei Feng Net" public number concerned) , "The future Meizu brand will support WeChat fingerprint payment." However, Zou Jun said that the follow-up will do some technical research. Do not rule out that one or two phones will not be able to pick up because of progress."

In addition, there is also good news. According to Zou Jun, after the next wave of new aircraft surges, this function is likely to become a trademark of each factory.
