Smart TV's annual output of 80 million units, quantum intelligence or new TV game

According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics a few days ago, in 2015, China’s total output of color TV reached 144.757 million units, an increase of 2.5% year-on-year, of which annual production of LCD TVs reached 14.919 million units, an increase of 3.8% year-on-year; annual production of smart TVs reached 83.835 million units. The year-on-year increase was 14.9%.

It can be seen that smart TV has become the largest force in the growth of the current TV market. The performance of domestic leading color TV companies also reflects this characteristic. According to Xiao Bian, the results of TCL Multimedia (1070.HK), a Hong Kong-listed TV company, showed that in the Chinese market, the total sales of TCL smart TVs was 762,700 units, accounting for 64.5% of total sales of LCD TVs in January. The upward trend continues.

In 2016, TCL Color TV also combined quantum technology with large-screen, intelligent and high-quality images to create a QUHD Quantum TV product. It is understood that QUHD Quantum TVs are equipped with quantum materials, quantum image processing engines, and multi-dimensional integrated image enhancement technologies. They are also equipped with industry-leading hardware configurations, Harman Caton S-Class Surface Acoustics, and TV+ OS 3.0 intelligent systems. The development trend and the new generation of TV products that represent the highest level of audio and video quality in the world are also the top-end products in TCL curved TV.

According to data from market research agencies, the penetration rate of smart TV reached 73% in 2015, and the activation rate was 83%. By the end of 2015, the number of TVs in China had exceeded 100 million, reaching 105 million. On this basis, the sales of boxes related to smart TVs also exceeded 60 million units.

With smart TVs entering more homes, users' smart TV consumption habits developed, video on demand, games, education, and shopping have become the most popular applications. The future of the living room economy is beginning to take shape. Some color TV companies predict that smart, picture quality, and large screen will be the consumer hotspots of the color TV industry in 2016. The supply of smart TV content will be further enriched, and content providers will also accelerate payment and advertising.

Of course, there is also a lot of worries about the explosion of smart TVs. Such as smart TV brings security, privacy issues. A few days ago, there were reports that a man in Indiana, USA, discovered that smart TVs in his own home have been watching him and collecting information to advertisers. Under the anger, the man ran a lawsuit and produced smart TVs. The petitioner went to court and demanded compensation of 5 million U.S. dollars.

Previously, research institutes stated that the level of smart TV security defenses is far behind that of mobile phones and PCs (personal computers). Because manufacturers pay more attention to user convenience rather than security, smart TVs running mobile operating systems such as Android have become vulnerable to attacks. The target, the manufacturer's choice may bring adverse consequences.
