Can projection really not replace television? This projection tells you the answer

If you ask everyone what new appliances you need to buy in your living room, your first reaction must be television, not a projector, and not a LED smart projector. Indeed, unknowingly, television has been entering Chinese families for decades. It almost completely occupied everyone's living room. Although projectors have been the subject of debate since the introduction of projectors, projectors have always been at a disadvantage.


If only from the point of view of function, there is no problem for the projector to access the TV signal through the set-top box. Especially with the development of technology, many projectors have their own intelligent systems, and they can watch television programs by connecting to the network. From the display size, the visual impact of a 100-inch screen is unmatched by the TV. Its display area is equivalent to four 50-inch TVs.


Home projectors do have the advantage of easily projecting large screens and are not inferior to TVs in functionality, but why haven't they been able to replace TVs? In my opinion, early projectors have the following disadvantages compared to television: high prices, high installation costs, high maintenance costs, and low lamp life.
However, since the application of LED light sources in the field of projectors, with the continuous improvement and progress of projection technology, many micro-projectors have broken the monopoly position of traditional projectors, creating a new era of projection without replacement of light bulbs. Gradually solved the above deficiencies with respect to television.


However, there is an important shortcoming for projection to replace TV, which is low brightness. The LED projector brightness refers to the light output of the LED projector and is expressed in terms of luminous flux (the energy that the light source radiates out of the surrounding space per unit time to generate a sense of the human eye). The unit is lumens. For projectors, the higher the number of lumens, the stronger the brightness. The LED projector is difficult to meet the bright environment display requirements due to its brightness, making it more suitable for use in some dark fields.


Although from the end of 2015, the mainstream LED smart projection increased from the previous 300-400 lumens to 550 lumens, although to a certain extent, to enhance the relatively low brightness of the projector relative to television, but the objective exists. The S3's 1081 ANSI lumens are fully enough to compete with the light bulbs, so the ultra-thousand-lumen cool music as the S3 claims that the smart projection that can be seen during the day is indeed not exaggerated.
