Samsung to Supply $22 Billion OLED Screen for iPhone Next Year

According to reports on December 20, according to foreign media reports, the latest news from industry sources stated that Samsung Display will supply 180 million to 200 million flexible OLED panels for Apple's iPhone next year, about four times this year's supply. These panels are expected to bring Samsung's revenue from $19.8 billion to $22 billion, because research firm IHSMarket estimates that the supply price of each OLED panel (including cover glass and touch sensors) is about $110. The increase in Samsung's A3 panel production yield is the main reason the company decided to increase its supply of apples. Earlier this year, the yield rate of the A3 production line was about 60%, but in the second half of this year it increased to more than 80%. With a 90% yield, Samsung Display will be able to produce about 224 million 6-inch OLED panels per year. The company initially hoped to invest in the construction of A5's new production line to meet Apple's demand, but after the yield increase, Samsung has decided to use the existing production line to supply OLED panels for Apple. Some brokerages expect that in 2018, Samsung's quarterly small and medium-sized OLED panel revenue will exceed 10 trillion won. The company's LCD panel revenue will still be about 2 trillion won per quarter.
