A new type of development tool introduced by American Orcale Company in 1995. Developer2000 supports cross-platform application development and can be used on platforms such as Macintosh and Unix. It provides an object-oriented development environment that combines strong default properties, descriptive non-process methods, and easy-to-use reuse of application components into a single entity. The default nature ensures a quick start to the development process, and the declarative approach extends the default features to those functions that require extensive reuse. The Developer2000 design environment is optimized for improving developer productivity, whether it is creating a screen, a menu, a report, or a graphical module. These tools all use the same design interface. The interface includes the following key parts: (1) Object The Navigator provides a structured representation of the application. (2) Property Adapters allow developers to check and modify a set of properties of a currently selected set of objects. (3) Oracle Process Builder, an environment for PL/SQL editing, interpretation, and debugging. Therefore, the Developer 2000 toolset provides a unified set of client/server editors to decompose the application logic between the server and the client. Developers can easily grasp the use of this tool set and can weigh and adjust client/server applications. (4) WYSIWYG style layout editor. All tools of Developer2000 use the same WYSIWYG graphical editor program, including screens, reports, and graphic objects. Developer2000 is mainly applied to the development of application software.
