TIR Systems Receives $1.8M Commitment from Petro-Canada

August 10, 2004... VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--

- Petro-Canada signs three year Purchase Agreement for TIRs SSL LightMark

- TIR helps Petro-Canada reduce its Greenhouse Gas Emissions

TIR Systems Ltd., a world leader in light enabling technology, is pleased to announce that it has signed a three year Purchase Agreement with Petro-Canada, one of Canadas largest petroleum retailers, with a network of over 1,600 retail and wholesale outlets. Program sees TIRs red LightMark product replacing neon as the design standard for contour lighting on all new build Petro-Canada gas station canopies across Canada.

This contract represents the initial order of this three quarter agreement. Revenue will be recognized as shipments are delivered over the next 24 months, with the first shipments taking place during the fourth quarter of 2004.

During a recently concluded pilot, energy readings showed that TIRs LightMark used less than 15% of the energy consumed by neon at an identical site. As a result LightMark will also be able to contribute significant to a reduction in Greenhouse Gas Emissions, when compared to Neon. Being LED-based, LightMark is an inherently safe design and requires virtually no maintenance over its 10-year life.

We were impressed with the proven field performance of TIRs LightMark product, said Lance Ubell, Manager, Engineering & Construction for Petro-Canadas Asset Management team. It allowed us to meet our key objectives of reducing our operating costs and our energy requirements, while doing Our part to protect the environment. Plus we really liked the look of it compared to the neon we were using.

I am excited to be working with a client of Petro-Canadas stature, said David Monroe, Vice President, Global Sales, Corporate Identity Market. The business case and pilot study on which this agreement is built clearly show the cost and operational benefits that prove LightMark to be a viable alternative to neon.
