According to Paul Peng, executive vice president of global operations at AUO, a panel maker in Taiwan, the company has begun shipping large quantities of 65-inch LED-backlit LCD TV panels, and is expected to be in the third quarter of 2010. Its products will be available in the market.
Paul Peng pointed out that AUO is currently the only manufacturer that produces 65-inch LED-backlit LCD TV panels in large quantities. Paul Peng also said that AUO will also introduce 46-inch and 55-inch LED-backlit LCD TV panels with a thickness of 1.2cm.
As far as LED backlights are concerned, Paul Peng said that since the beginning of 2010, AUO has not received any orders for new CCFL backlight displays and notebook panels, so from now on, LED backlights are used in LCD monitors and notebooks. The demand for computers will rise.
