Daydream VR platform launched for the final sprint for several weeks

According to Bloomberg News, VR’s long-awaited Daydream VR platform will be launched in the coming weeks, and Google is also working with other companies on content creation and sharing, hoping to have exclusive content when the platform is launched.

According to reports, Google will help promote some of Hulu's projects and fund some YouTube stars to produce 360-degree video. It is also working with game manufacturers and sports leagues. It is understood that Hulu will release a new video on Daydream.

Google wants to promote Daydream platform through more applications and games. It mixes application and software services. Just like Android, the company thinks it will become an important way for future users to interact with VR. The Android system updates that support Daydream have also been launched.

Compared to rivals such as Facebook, Google focuses on the mobile VR platform, consumers can enjoy the VR experience with their mobile phones, and Daydream will provide them with a range of applications, including common YouTube.

This should be Google’s first important VR content project. It doesn’t want to invest too much, but hopes to cover more content to understand which is more attractive to users. According to reports, Google’s investment in video games is 6 digits, while the input of producers and online content producers is 5 to 6 digits.

Producers working with Google need to use a device composed of 16 cameras, which is optimized for the Jump platform. GoPro is developing a VR camera called Odyssey, which costs $15,000. Although many VR content producers have concerns about the budget and Google's requirements, there are still dozens of developers working with YouTube. One thing is gratifying is that the content developed by the producer is owned by himself. Google will not claim ownership because of funding. It can be seen that its purpose is mainly to encourage the participation of developers and to prepare for the launch of Daydream.

Daydream will be released with a new generation of Android phones, VR devices and controllers. The latest version of Android already has some VR customization features, including faster image processing and head tracking.

Google once developed its own VR hardware device, but now it is mainly focused on doing reference designs to help other companies. Its vision is that Daydream will become the mainstream interactive method of VR, just like Android is for mobile phones.
