The growth rate of the entire China Internet of Things is much higher than the average growth rate of the world. According to the data of Zhong Zhimin's application, the number of global Internet of Things connections will reach 30 billion in 2025. In 2016, the development of China Telecom's Internet of Things has increased to more than 10 million by the end of the year. Zhong Zhimin said that from the end of 2016 to the end of June 2017, the number of connections in China Telecom's Internet of Things is equal to the number of increments in 2016, which is doubled in the same period. Earlier, Yang Xiaowei, general manager of China Telecom Group, told the media that China Internet of Things is expected to increase net users by 25 million in 2017 and over 100 million in 2018. The areas and industries covered by the Internet of Things are also becoming more and more abundant, and the number of members of the Tianyi Internet Alliance is also growing rapidly.
2017 is the breakthrough year for the development of China Telecom's IoT business. In March, it took the lead in commercial NB-IoT Smart Water in Shenzhen; opened NB-IoT in Yingtan, Jiangxi, in April to participate in the construction of smart city; in May, the group announced the completion of the NB-IoT commercial network with a quantity of 310,000; in June, it was released in Shanghai.
