LCD panel introduction

When users buy LCD monitors, they often hear merchants say: "xx brand is good, use A screen, xx brand does not work, use B screen." What is the difference between the A screen and the B screen?

The grade of A-level screen is higher than that of B-level screen, and the grade of C-level screen is the lowest. In addition to these three levels, there is now a name called "super A level" or "AA level", that is, a slightly higher product than the A level. Generally speaking, both B and C are considered defective products. Compared with A, B and C have more dead pixels, the brightness is relatively uneven, the appearance may also be damaged, and the price gap with A screen It may be as high as nearly a thousand yuan.
For well-known brands such as Samsung, Philips, and Pure World, the quality requirements for LCD screens are relatively higher, and "A" grade screens will be used to ensure quality. Therefore, in the procurement process, the price is not completely positioned according to a pure brand, but strictly follows the principle of cost manufacturing.

Dead pixels are irreparable pixels on the LCD panel, which are generated during the production process. There are three transistors behind the liquid crystal pixel, corresponding to the three filters of red, green, and blue. Any one of the transistors will make this pixel a bad point. For a 15-inch 1024 * 768 screen, a total of about 1024 * 768 * 3 = 2359296 pixels are needed, and a separate driver tube is integrated behind each LCD pixel. In so many pixels and driver tubes It is inevitable that there will be individual problems. The number of dead spots is directly related to the manufacturer's technology and process level. For now, 20% of the products produced by each batch of LCD panels usually have dead pixels. With the continuous improvement of technology, some brands of LCD panels have been able to control the dead spot rate within 10%, but the zero dead spot rate is still rare.
The highlight is the red, green and blue dots displayed on the screen when the screen displayed on the setting screen is completely black.
The dark point is the point where the color is not displayed on the screen when the screen displayed on the screen is completely white or the same color.

In fact, the judgment of the LCD panel is not only in the number of dead spots and bright spots, but also the difference in color purity and viewing angle. Class B and Class C will be used to price the products. Among them, Class A and Class B screens must be tested with special instruments, which is difficult to distinguish with the naked eye.

The panel manufacturers of different regions have different product ratings: Korean manufacturers, 3 or less are A-level Japanese manufacturers, 5 or less are A-level Taiwan manufacturers, and 8 or less are A-level manufacturers

The nominal standards of mainstream LCD products are:
AA level: The LCD display without any dead pixels is AA level.
Class A: Less than 3 dead pixels, of which no more than one bright spot, and the bright spot is not in the central area of the screen.
Class B: Below 3 dead pixels, of which there are no more than two bright spots, and the bright spots are not in the central area of the screen.

The above are the grading standards for LCD panel manufacturers and LCD display manufacturers for your reference when selecting LCD!
