Ford launches automotive lighting challenge to accelerate the development of LED lights

The company points out that its new Ford F-150 pickups have LEDs for exterior headlights, exterior mirrors and cargo lights, while the Ford Mustang's brakes, directional and taillights are fully LED.

In recent years, with the increasing use of LEDs in automotive lighting, the number of domestic LED manufacturers has increased. On September 2nd, at the 2014 LED Application Technology and Market Development Forum hosted by China International Optoelectronic Exposition, Tang Jun, manager of BYD Lighting LED Application Development Center and factory director, answered questions from the audience: “BYD Lighting in the first half of 2014 LED car lights revenues of nearly 60 million yuan, accounting for about 30% of BYD's total revenue."
According to Tang Jun, the main business of BYD Lighting is composed of LED indoor lighting, LED outdoor lighting and LED lights. Among them, LED lamp business mainly includes LED brake lights, LED combination tail lights, LED instrument lights, LED infrared lights and so on.
In addition, BYD has launched the corresponding LED headlight solution and has intelligent control functions. Previously, LED headlights have been monopolized by international manufacturers, and domestic manufacturers have rarely been involved.
OSRAM showcases laboratory headlight LED brightness three times that of existing LEDs
At the Paris Visual Conference held on October 14-15, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors showed an LED for automotive headlights. Osram said the LED is three times brighter than existing LEDs. The company also noted that this single LED provides a complete low beam. However, in the past, several LED chips were required, depending on the design and type of LEDs used.
The company said that the new LED can have such high brightness because it combines ceramic conversion technology, UX: 3 chip technology and high current technology for projection. OSRAM Optoelectronics also said that the future headlights will be much smaller in size and have their own lighting functions.

Today, LED lights are more and more widely used in car lights, such as LED daytime running lights, width lights, angel eyes. Etc.
