KDDI releases ultra-small projector

KDDI released the new mobile phone brand "iida" (Fig. 1) on April 7, 2009. From the end of April 2009, the company plans to launch the iida brand with the help of external designers and artists to develop more mobile phones and related products.

Before and after the launch of the G9, as a peripheral product of the iida brand, it is planned to launch the ultra-small projector "Mobile pico projector".

The projector is produced by Toshiba. The outer dimensions are 50mm x 112mm x 18.3mm and the weight is 128g. The size is basically the same as G9. Using the "DLPPico" chipset from Texas Instruments, "the brightness is about 5lm" (narrator). When the projection distance is 0.25 m, the screen size is equivalent to 6 inches, and when the projection distance is 2.5 m, the screen size is equivalent to 63 inches. The continuous use time is 130 minutes and the charging time is 110 minutes (Fig. 7).

Like the G9, the Mobile picoprojector is also designed by Iwasaki Ichiro. In addition to G9 and S001, "CA001", "H001", "W63CA", "W63H", "GzOne", "W62CA" and "W62H" are also supported. Single-band (real-time and video playback) images, EZmovie (moving images), photos, and file viewers (DocumentViewer) images can be output from the phone to the projector.
