Sony will showcase new VR/AR immersion technology at SXSW

SXSW (also known as SouthSouthwest) is one of the largest exhibitions dedicated to business creativity and will be held in Austin, Texas from March 9th to 18th, 2018. Sony has announced that they will showcase some new immersive technology projects to attendees there.

Sony will showcase several project prototypes and early versions during the interactive festival on Saturday, March 10, including:

ARAirHockey (Air Hockey), an air hockey experience that combines classic arcade games with augmented reality (AR) technology. By using Sony's high-speed vision sensor, the IMX382, along with proprietary prediction algorithms and haptic feedback technology, can track motion in 1/1000th of a second.

HeroGenerator - Visitors can create their own personalized VR avatars, view them from all angles, and even experience short films featuring their own characters. Visitors can even save videos to their smartphones and take them home to share with friends and family.

InteracTIveCube, by leveraging haptic feedback techniques and predictions, visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of interactive mixed reality games.

SoccerVR, a music score scoring experience developed by Sony Music Communications and Haciras.

Acoustic Corridor, combining music with Sony's space acoustics technology, visitors will be able to walk down the corridor with 576 speakers to create an immersive sound experience that will take visitors from the city to the forest and even outer space.
