On April 20, 2012, Everlight Electronics filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Nichia Corp. in the US District Court for the State of Michigan, suing the court for prohibiting the creation, use, sale, sale of the company or Importing infringing products and requesting damages.

Yiguang is the exclusive US licensee for the 215 patent, while the 215 patent is owned by Emcore.
