Dell said its 15-inch LED-backlit LCD screen is 43% more energy efficient than traditional CCFL backlights at maximum brightness. Users will save 220 million kWh of electricity and $20 million in electricity bills from 2010 to 2011 due to the use of LED-backlit screens. This is equivalent to one year's energy consumption of carbon dioxide emissions from 10,000 households.
From December 15 this year, two-thirds of the Dell Latitude E-series business notebooks will feature mercury-free LED backlight technology as standard, including the Latitude E4200, E4300, E6400, E6400 ATG and E6500, as well as the Precision M2400 for the mobile workstation series. , M4400.
In addition to the business series, Dell expects 80% of its global notebook shipments to achieve standard LED backlighting by the end of 2009, reaching 100% in 2010.
