The Pearl River Delta has always been one of the key gathering areas for China's LED middle and lower reaches. More than 60% of the country's midstream and downstream enterprises are located in the Pearl River Delta. The perfect industrial chain and industrial cluster effect are the main advantages of attracting investors in the Pearl River Delta region.
However, in the upstream chip industry, the advantages of the Pearl River Delta region are not obvious, and most enterprises are only engaged in the chip back-end process, and the mass production of epitaxial wafers is small. The High-Tech LED Industry Research Institute (GLII) will analyze the LED chip industry landscape in the Pearl River Delta region from four aspects: number of enterprises, production capacity, revenue and future development.
Note: The number of enterprises is calculated according to the base. For example, Sanan Optoelectronics has three bases in Xiamen, Wuhu and Tianjin, and counts three.

The number of enterprises accounted for 19%, ranking third
According to GLII data, as of the end of 2011, there were 95 LED chip companies in China, including 18 companies in the Pearl River Delta region, accounting for 19%.
Among the above 18 enterprises, 12 have already been put into production, accounting for 66.7%. Among them, only four companies have already involved the production of epitaxial wafers, namely Jiangmen Orende, Jiangmen Zhenmingli, Foshan Xurui and Huizhou BYD, but the overall scale of the above-mentioned enterprises is relatively small, and the market influence is limited. Among them, the mass production process of the epitaxial chips of Zhen Mingli, Xurui and BYD all have different degrees of problems, and the development is not smooth.

â— Foshan has five chip companies, ranking first in the Pearl River Delta. However, only Foshan Xurui has been put into production, and National Star Semiconductor and Guangdong Jingjing have introduced MOCVD.
â— There are 4 chip companies in Dongguan, namely Dongguan Fudi, Dongguan Jingrui, Dongguan Zhoulei and Dongguan Gaohui. These four companies do not produce epitaxial films. In addition to Dongguan Fudi, the other three companies are all Taiwanese enterprises in the mainland. Chip production base.
â— There are three chip companies in Guangzhou, namely Guangzhou Jingke, Guangzhou Yaweilang and Guangzhou Jingxin, Guangzhou Jingke and Guangzhou Yaweilang do not produce epitaxial wafers, and Guangzhou Jingxin has not yet put into production.
â— Jiangmen has three chip companies, two of which have been put into production, namely Jiangmen Orende and Jiangmen Zhenmingli, both of which produce epitaxial wafers. Jiangmen is the main production base of LED epitaxial wafers in the Pearl River Delta. Shenzhen has only one company in Shenzhen Orende, and is mainly engaged in the chip back-end process, and does not produce epitaxial wafers.
