All kinds of positive news make the industry people look forward to the application prospects of integrated high-power light sources.

Mature technology has obvious advantages

What is an integrated high-power light source? In summary, the chip is packaged directly on the substrate. At present, there are two kinds of packaging methods: one is the positive and the other is the flip-chip. Simplifies the package structure and process, the light source luminous efficiency can reach more than 120 lumens, reliability is better, and functional lighting can be achieved.

When people compare the characteristics of an integrated light source and a module light source, it is found that the greatest advantage of the integrated light source is to solve the problem of “light intensity”. This advantage is very important. Many companies that manufacture LED lighting products have not known or ignored the concept of “light intensity” for a long time.

Many people have this feeling that the module street lamp or flat panel street lamp looks bright, but the feeling of the ground is not bright; in order to increase the brightness, it is necessary to increase the power, and the price-to-price ratio after the increase of power changes, and it is far inferior to the high-pressure sodium lamp economy. . The reason is "light intensity". It is because of insufficient "light intensity" that hinders the development of LED functional lighting.

However, why did most companies use a one-watt chip to assemble light sources instead of integrating light sources? The reason is that on the one hand people have an understanding of the integrated light source process; Second, the integrated light source packaging technology is not mature.

The manufacture of integrated light sources faces many challenges, such as optimization of COB structure and materials, welding technology, processing of junction temperature and heat dissipation of substrates, manufacturing technology of light distribution technology and lenses, and driving technology. After nearly three years of research and practice by industry technicians, these problems have now been solved.

Some enterprises in our country started researching and exploring the packaging and application technology of integrated light sources as early as in 2004. Early research companies that manufacture integrated light sources include Hangzhou Chuangyuan and Tongchuan Linzi. Hangzhou Chuangyuan installed its first integrated high-power street lamp in Lin'an in March 2004. The author attended the lighting ceremony. Zhongshan Fuxing Group will integrate light sources for downlights and spotlights in 2007, and will first introduce COB lighting products into the Hong Kong market.

In terms of integrated packaged high-power light sources, currently maturely applied enterprises are basically self-encapsulating or self-developed technology-entrusted packages, which have made breakthroughs in structure and materials. The application of the integrated light source is a system technology and is not simply assembled.

Breakthrough in application

Due to the outstanding technical performance of the integrated light source, its performance in the application market has become a very important development direction for LED functional lighting.

As the main position of functional lighting, there are two difficulties in the application of street lamps: one is heat dissipation; the other is light distribution. At present, there are two main ways to dissipate heat. One is die-cast aluminum and the other is heat pipe. The former is represented by Zhongshan Hongbao, while the latter is represented by Yixing Hongli. Light distribution is also called secondary light distribution. There are two main ways of light distribution: lens light distribution, and reflector light distribution. The former is represented by Zhongshan Hongbao, the latter represented by Shanxi Guangyu. These two types of heat distribution technology are relatively mature and have been applied on a large scale.

In terms of cost performance, system light efficiency is more than 90 lumens. According to different settlement methods, there is still room for price decline.

In the field of integrated light source manufacturing and application, many of China's powerful lighting companies are cultivating them. The level of comprehensive system technology that they possess is almost the same as that of internationally renowned large companies, and individual technologies even reach international advanced levels. This laid a good foundation for the future industrialization and socialization of COB light source manufacturing and application.

At last year's Guangzhou Guangya Lighting Fair, the author found that many companies exhibited a large number of downlights, spotlights, par lamps, mining lamps, and pole lights that use integrated light sources. The number of exhibited companies and application areas far exceeded that of 2012. In the subsequent Hong Kong Autumn Lighting Exhibition, a large number of companies including Zhongshan Hongbao, Suzhou Kelin and Xin, Ningbo Dongxing, and Jiangsu Youneng Corporation exhibited integrated light source lamps and mining lamps; CITIZEN exhibited 80 The tile integrated light source not only shows more downlights, spotlights, and par lamps with integrated light sources, but also MR16, and downlights and spotlights with lens light distribution. Ningbo Dongxing integrated light source street lamp has entered the US market, Jiangsu has a large number of integrated light source street lamps exported to Germany, these results are exciting.

Here, I propose the following recommendations for LED integrated light source applications: First, LED integrated light source for lighting has a technical route problem, different power, different uses of the light source should take a different light source structure, using a technical route to fight the world is not scientific The second is not to be "replaced" blindfolded, to learn from traditional lighting, in order to inherit the advantages of traditional electric light source in order to develop LED light source; third is to study lighting, study LED light source and space relationship; Pay attention to lighting application design; Fifth, pay special attention to secondary light distribution, and obtain the required light type through light distribution. The original point light source is not a comfortable light source for lighting.

The author proposed six years ago that COB plus lens is the direction of LED functional lighting. Now, practice has proved that this view is correct. The author hopes that the companies that have already achieved success will continue to research and carry out multi-party cooperation. They will intensively work on this technical route, cooperate in division of labor, and explore a Chinese LED integrated light source application road to create Chinese miracles in this field.
