The "Zhongguancun Semiconductor Lighting Industry Technology Alliance" jointly established by more than 20 related units in the semiconductor lighting industry in Beijing will be formally established on June 30, 2010. Wan Rong, director of the Beijing New Materials Development Center, said that after the alliance is established, it will condense the upstream and downstream resources of the industry chain, give play to Beijing's advantages in testing and standard setting, and promote high-end applications such as large-screen full-color display and landscape lighting. In the next three years, 50 independent intellectual property rights, 10 national or industry standards will be formed, and 3 to 5 landmark demonstration application projects will be promoted. At the same time, the alliance aims to cultivate 6-8 industry leading enterprises within 3 years, promote the formation of high-end industrial clusters, and achieve an industrial scale of 5 billion yuan.
Beijing will make a strong contribution to the development of technical standards, the development of high-end industrial chains such as epitaxial materials and chips, major equipment manufacturing, and high-end applications. The next step will rely on the Institute of Semiconductors of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, Tsinghua and other research institutions to actively develop chip standards, chip testing standards, packaging device standards, LED lighting product application standards.
The key developments in the future are upstream core technologies such as epitaxial wafer growth and chip manufacturing, and actively support MOCVD's major industrialization projects. Support BOE, Liard and other enterprises to vigorously develop high-end applications such as LED backlight, large-screen display, solar LED lighting.
