During the DSEI 2013 British International Defense Exhibition, the innovative solution provider e2v will launch a new ultra-wideband (2-18GHz) microwave power module (MPM). The new MPM is market-leading in size, weight, and power (SWaP) characteristics, and can be used in electronic warfare (EW), data connections, and radar and communication systems, and is not listed in the International Arms Trade Regulations (ITAR).
Traditionally, the 2-18 GHz frequency range is usually provided by two MPMs, and the single-tube multi-unit devices that e2v now introduces break through the conventions, demonstrating superior SWaP advantages. The company also offers 2-7 GHz and 6-18 GHz separate MPMs to provide maximum flexibility for system configuration. Currently, this category of ITAR exempt equipment only includes 2-7 GHz and 2-18 GHz MPM.
The complete MPM designed and produced by e2v combines the company's 50-year-old miniature spiral traveling wave tube (TWT) and a high-density energy supply and control circuit-a new solid-state preamplifier, making the device performance and reliability The aspect is optimized. This module is not only light-weight, powerful, and heat-resistant, but also comes in a rugged package specifically designed for various applications by sea, land, and air.
MPM can be supplied separately in the housing or sold as a synthetic subsystem, greatly improving packaging flexibility. The compact form factor allows it to be installed close to the transmitter, minimizing cable length and corresponding energy losses.
e2v can also provide customized solutions to meet the specific requirements of customers in the most demanding environments, including high temperature, high altitude, vibration and shock.
The MPM launched by e2v is currently undergoing certification for large-scale EU rapid jet projects.
